DAY 01. AIRPORT – SUMIDERO CANYON – CHIAPA DE CORZO – SAN CRISTÓBAL DE LAS CASAS
(Please schedule flight arriving before 1:00 pm).
Reception at the scheduled time at Tuxtla Gutiérrez airport. Transfer to the Chiapa de Corzo pier to begin a shared boat tour along the Grijalva River and admire the grandeur of the Sumidero Canyon, with rock walls rising up to 1,000 meters high. Along the way, you will see several points of interest such as “La Cueva de Colores” (Cave of Colors) and “El Árbol de Navidad” (Christmas Tree), as well as a variety of flora and fauna, mainly numerous bird species and crocodiles.
After the tour, visit the historic center of the colonial city and Magical Town of Chiapa de Corzo, where you can admire its beautiful colonial fountain representing the 16th-century Spanish royal crown, as well as the majestic Santo Domingo de Guzmán Temple and former convent.
Transfer to the beautiful colonial city and Magical Town of San Cristóbal de Las Casas for accommodation at the selected hotel category.
DAY 02. EL CHIFLÓN WATERFALLS – MONTEBELLO LAKES
Departure: 08:00 am. Shared tour to visit the beautiful El Chiflón Waterfalls, where you will walk along trails and stairways perfectly designed to admire each of the cascades of different sizes and names, until reaching the largest and most famous, the “Velo de Novia” (Bridal Veil) waterfall. Here you may climb up to the viewpoint, feel the mist, and admire the impressive waterfall up close. If desired, you will have time to refresh and swim in designated safe areas. Approximate stay: 2 hours.
Continue to the emblematic Montebello Lakes, visiting the 5 main lagoons. You can take a walk around the area or simply admire the natural beauty and the different colors of the lakes. Time for lunch and optional activities (NOT INCLUDED), approximately 2 hours.
Return to San Cristóbal de Las Casas around 8:00 pm.
DAY 03. INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES
Departure: 09:30 am. Shared tour to visit two highland towns of Chiapas, predominantly inhabited by the Tzotzil ethnic group, located about 10 km from San Cristóbal de Las Casas.
First, visit San Juan Chamula, whose main attraction is its church, known for its religious syncretism, blending ancient traditions with Catholic practices.
Next, continue a few kilometers further to Zinacantán, a community dedicated to agriculture (mainly flower cultivation) and to handicrafts, especially the elaboration of hand-embroidered textiles—true works of art made by local women. These textiles have received international recognition for their quality. You will also visit the home of an artisan family, who will offer a light snack of local food and a tasting of the traditional alcoholic drink “Posh”, a fermented and distilled corn aguardiente.
Return to San Cristóbal de Las Casas around 1:30 pm.
DAY 04. AGUA AZUL – MISOL-HA – PALENQUE ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE
Departure: 04:00 am. (Breakfast en route).
Visit the stunning and emblematic Agua Azul Waterfalls, a place of incredible natural beauty where you can walk along the trails to admire the different cascades. Swimming is permitted only in designated areas. Suggested stay: approximately 2 hours.
Next, enjoy a 30–40 minute visit to the Misol-ha Waterfall, approximately 60 meters high, where you can walk around the area and admire the impressive cascade up close.
Continue to the Archaeological Site of Palenque, one of the most important ceremonial and scientific centers of the Mayan civilization. Explore the site with a local certified guide (not included) or on your own to admire its significant structures. Approximate visit: 2 hours.
Return to San Cristóbal de Las Casas or transfer to your hotel for accommodation.
DAY 05. YAXCHILÁN – BONAMPAK – LACANJÁ
Departure: 05:30 am. (Breakfast en route included).
Departure towards the Lacandon Jungle to visit the Lost City of the Maya, known as Yaxchilán (Green Stones), reached via a boat ride along the Usumacinta River (approx. 1h 30min). Here you will explore the various structures of the Late Classic period.
Next, visit the important archaeological site of Bonampak (Place of the Painted Walls), famous for its murals dating from 600–800 AD. Lunch en route (not included).
Continue to the Lacandon community for check-in and overnight stay at the selected eco-camp, where you will experience part of the daily life of the Lacandon people. They will gladly host you, providing accommodation and meals (dinner and breakfast). You will stay in private cabins with private bathrooms, fans, and mosquito-netted beds, with good standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
DAY 06. LACANJÁ – PALENQUE
At 07:00 am, a Lacandon guide will lead you on a trek through the Lacandon Jungle, where you will observe nature at its finest, following a safe and well-marked trail. Along the way, you will discover various species of flora and wildlife, none of which pose any risk.
Return to the camp for rest. In the afternoon, transfer back to the city of Palenque, arriving at your hotel around 8:00 pm.
DAY 07. LA VENTA MUSEUM PARK – VILLAHERMOSA AIRPORT
At the scheduled time, departure from the hotel in Palenque towards Villahermosa, Tabasco. First, visit the La Venta Museum Park, home to the colossal Olmec heads and vestiges of Mesoamerica’s oldest culture: the Olmecs. Approximate visit: 1 hour. Afterwards, transfer to Villahermosa airport to board your return flight.
