DAY 1 – CITY OF ORIGIN / MEXICO CITY

Reception at the airport by our staff and transfer to your hotel. Rest of the afternoon at leisure. For tonight, we recommend as an optional activity: Dinner at the world’s largest revolving restaurant, Bellini, followed by a Pre-Hispanic Folkloric Show while enjoying a delicious Margarita, and ending the evening listening to Mariachi music at the famous Plaza Garibaldi. Overnight stay.

DAY 2 – MEXICO CITY – CITY TOUR & NATIONAL MUSEUM OF ANTHROPOLOGY

Breakfast. Like a vast living museum, Mexico City — the oldest metropolis in the Americas — offers an extraordinary display of over 650 years of human and cultural development, making it one of the most attractive and fascinating cities in the world. We will begin our tour with the famous Historic Center: Zócalo, Cathedral, National Palace, Diego Rivera’s murals (subject to government authorization), panoramic drive along Paseo de la Reforma and Chapultepec, where we will visit the National Museum of Anthropology. Here, you will enjoy a fascinating glimpse of the country’s most important cultures (Mexica, Aztec, and Maya halls). You may remain at the museum to visit it in full, or return to your hotel. Take advantage of your free afternoon — we suggest visiting the navigable canals of Xochimilco in the southern part of this beautiful metropolis, among many other possible activities. Overnight stay.

DAY 3 – MEXICO CITY – BASÍLICA DE GUADALUPE & TEOTIHUACÁN PYRAMIDS

Breakfast. The tour begins with the first stop in Tlatelolco to visit “Plaza de las Tres Culturas,” one of the most significant sites in Mexico City, representing three key stages in Mexico’s history: pre-Hispanic, colonial, and contemporary. We will then continue to the Basílica de Guadalupe, where you will see the original cloak of Saint Juan Diego bearing the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe. From there, we will head to the archaeological site of Teotihuacán, whose name means “place where men become gods,” to explore the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, the Quetzal-Butterfly Palace, and the Temple of the Feathered Serpent (Quetzalcóatl), as well as walking along the Avenue of the Dead. Lunch included (beverages not included). In the afternoon, we will stop at a handicraft workshop to learn about the production of pulque (a pre-Hispanic beverage), textiles, and the crafting of obsidian and silver. Overnight stay.

The order of activities may vary due to seasonal weather conditions or pandemic-related capacity restrictions.

DAY 4 – PUEBLA & CHOLULA

Breakfast. Departure towards the east of Mexico City to reach Cholula, home to the largest pyramid base in the world — 400 meters per side and 55 meters high — built on the surrounding plain. The town is famous for its 37 churches, the most notable being Santa María Tonantzintla, whose interior is adorned with ornamental sculptures crafted by indigenous artisans, reflecting the religious syncretism of the era. We will then continue to the city of Puebla de los Ángeles, capital of the state, which displays a beautiful blend of Renaissance and Baroque styles, especially in the Capilla del Rosario, considered the eighth wonder of the world, with gold-covered altarpieces. Puebla itself is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Free time for lunch (not included). At the scheduled time, return to Mexico City. Overnight stay.

DAY 5 – CUERNAVACA & TAXCO

Breakfast. Departure southbound from Mexico City to the state of Morelos, with our first stop in Cuernavaca, known as the “City of Eternal Spring.” Here we will enjoy a panoramic tour admiring one of the oldest cathedrals in the Americas and the Palacio de Cortés, a 16th-century colonial civil palace where the conqueror lived after residing in Mexico City. We will then continue to one of the treasures of the Sierra Madre: Taxco, the “World Silver Capital.” Here, we will visit the famous Baroque parish of Santa Prisca and stroll through its beautiful cobblestone streets. We will also visit one of the best silver workshops in the area. Free time for lunch (not included) and to explore the town. Return to Mexico City. Overnight stay.

DAY 6 – XOCHIMILCO & UNAM

Breakfast. Departure southward to a natural paradise — the last remains of the extensive transportation system created by the Aztecs: Xochimilco, one of the most picturesque and colorful areas of the city, famous for its navigable canals, beautiful flowers, and trajineras (brightly decorated boats) that sail while live Mariachi or Trio music plays (extra cost). We will then continue to University City (Ciudad Universitaria), built between 1950 and 1954. Its spectacular campus features modern architecture and stands as one of the most emblematic developments of modern Mexico. We will also see the Olympic Stadium, where the 1968 Olympic Games were held. Return transfer to your hotel. Overnight stay.

DAY 7 – MEXICO CITY / CITY OF ORIGIN
