DAY 1 – CITY OF ORIGIN / MEXICO CITY
Reception at the airport by our staff and transfer to your hotel. Rest of the afternoon free. For this evening, we suggest an optional dinner at the world’s largest revolving restaurant “Bellini” followed by a Pre-Hispanic Folkloric Show while enjoying a delicious Margarita. End the evening listening to Mariachi music at the famous Plaza Garibaldi. Overnight stay.
DAY 2 – IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FRIDA – Tuesday to Sunday – A MUST!
Breakfast. Accompanied by an expert historian, follow Frida’s footsteps as you walk through Mexico City’s iconic Historic Center starting at the Zócalo. Visit historic buildings through the eyes of Frida Kahlo, including the Old San Ildefonso College and the SEP (Public Education Secretariat) building.
Afterwards, learn more about the accident that changed her life while retracing the same tram route to Coyoacán she used to take after school. Once in Coyoacán, discover her unique perspective on love and personal relationships during a visit to the Casa León Trotsky Museum. Also, witness the real history and family anecdotes behind Frida’s iconic home, La Casa Azul.
Finally, stroll through the neighborhood and listen to intimate stories about the painter. During the tour, enjoy Oaxacan cuisine just as Frida and Diego did in the 1940s (a gastronomic experience based on traditional Mexican snacks). Toast to Frida’s eternal legacy with a glass of mezcal or tequila. Overnight stay.
DAY 3 – MEXICO CITY – BASILICA OF GUADALUPE & TEOTIHUACAN PYRAMIDS
Breakfast. The tour begins with a first stop at Tlatelolco to visit “The Plaza of the Three Cultures,” one of the most significant sites in Mexico City, as it reflects three important periods of Mexican history: pre-Hispanic, colonial, and contemporary.
Continue on to the Basilica of Guadalupe to see the original cloak of Saint Juan Diego, bearing the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe. From here, head to the archaeological site of Teotihuacán—whose name means “place where men become gods”—to explore the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, the Quetzalpapálotl Palace, and the Temple of the Feathered Serpent “Quetzalcóatl,” as well as walk along the Avenue of the Dead. Lunch included.
We will also stop at a handicraft shop to learn about the process of making pulque (a pre-Hispanic beverage), as well as the work done with obsidian and silver. Overnight stay.
